Samsung officially unveiled Galaxy Tab 8.9 and new Galaxy Tab 10.1 at CTIA 2011 [Images & Specs]

It’s official! Samsung unveiled today during their Samsung Unpacked Event at CTIA 2011 the Galaxy Tab 8.9-inch and a new improved Galaxy Tab 10.1-inch.

The first thing advertised about the two tablets is that they are the thinnest mobile tablets available on the market! The GALAXY Tab 10.1 weights 595 grams, 8.9 version weighs 470 grams and both have 1280×800 resolution displays and are 8.6 mm thin (Ipad 2 – 8.8mm thin).  Both Galaxy Tabs will receive Android 3.0 Honeycomb on top of which “Samsung TouchWiz UX” is added.

The new TouchWiz 4.0 will come with a Live Panel menu in which users will be able to customize their content to display a variety of content such as digital pictures, favourite Web Sites and social network feeds. Also an application tray is included which will provide features such as task manager, music player and calendar which can be launched any time.

Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 will be running on a 1GHz dual core processor, will support HSPA+ network speeds of up to 21Mbps, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11 /b/g/n/ connectivity, will be available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations, with a microSD slot that can expand storage by an additional 32GB. In addition, Galaxy Tab 10.1 will come with a surround-sound stereo speakers that “will deliver premium entertainment experience whether watching videos, movies or playing games.”

Regarding entertainment the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 will feature a 3 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera, offering a great 1080p HD video and Flash 10.2 playback for a rich entertainment experience. Also both slates will come pre-loaded with Readers Hub and Music Hub “giving consumers instant access to more than 2.2 million books, 2,000 newspaper (49 languages), 2,300 magazines (22 languages), and 13 million songs”. Those in the Business sector are not forgotten either, Samsung delivering solutions specially designed for enterprise sector developed in collaboration with industry-leading partners such as Cisco, Sybase, SAP and Citrix.

Lastly,Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 are expected to ship worldwide this summer with WI-FI and HSPA+ versions. Galaxy Tab 10.1 WI-FI will cost $499 is US for the 16GB model, $599 for the 32GB model and will be available on June 8. The Wi-FI Galaxy Tab 8.9 will cost $469 for the 16GB model, $569 for the 32GB model and will be available earlier this summer. Also the LTE and WiMax versions will be out later this year but price and carriers have not been announced yet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro Edition (GT-P1101)

Samsung announced today that it is going to release a new version of the so popular Original Galaxy Tab (GT-P1101) named Pro Edition. After the release of Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 at CTIA 2011, who knew that the Korean company was working in secret to release a new version of the Galaxy Tab.

An insider from Samsung revealed the fact that Galaxy Tab Pro Edition will provide a 6.5-inch screen which can be expended up to 7.2-inch and will boost the new in tests Tegra 3 Core 2 Duo Processor running at 2GHz which is a first in the history of mobile devices. Also a new version of Android OS is expected code-named 3.5.5.3″Lollipops” (which if you read it the other way around it’s the same)  on top of which the new Samsung TouchWhyWhy will deliver users an unimaginable experience. Among the new features we can find and SD card slot, 10.1 MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, RealSurround Speakers,  3G – 4G capabilities and the possibility of adding your own G number, Smile as you mean it Special app and super thin unscrachable screen (be careful with rain drops). GT-P1101 will be also super extra thin (just 5.6 mm) being the thinnest tablet on the market, weighting only 250gr. Galaxy Tab Pro Edition will be available earlier this summer at a price tag of $199.99 off contract. Yes, it’s for real. The new tablet battle experience begins. What’s your tablet life? Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab now on sale in US for $350!

he Wi-Fi version of the original Samsung Galaxy Tab is now available for purchase in the United States for $350.

As Samsung previously announced, the Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi is now available and you won’t have to sign for any long-term contracts like with the 3G version. The spec are the same as the Galaxy Tab 3G; the slate is powered by Android 2.2 on top of which Samsung’s Touchwiz and the Swype keyboard will be present.

A number of online retailers are already selling the device such as Circuit City, CDW, TigerDirect and CompUSA. FRYS.com and Amazon will follow soon, where the tablet is not in stock at the moment.

LG Revolution 4G LTE Capable Appears
